This portrait of Matthew Cunningham was accomplished through a combination of sittings in the artist's studio and  digital photos taken in the subject's home.  Not all children are patient enough for sittings. I loved the alternating yellow and light blue highlights on the leather chair  and the wood floor!  Matthew's skin tones are a study of pinks and lavenders.

Naturally, portraits in which Christy is able to meet with the subject, set up her own poses, and take photographs herself are preferable. Portraits based on this type of preparation allow the artist to chose the most natural but still aesthetically pleasing poses. More importantly, a meeting between the artist and her portrait subjects allows the artist to recognize immediately a likeness when she has achieved it in one of her portraits. But be aware that if for some reason a sitting cannot be arranged, Christy can work with your existing photos.
