The old truck is one of Mr Johnson's earliest pieces. It is a very graphic depiction of Nature reclaiming something of man that has lost it's usefulness. This has come to be a unifying theme of Jimmie Johnson's paintings. So heavy is his paint application that the images seem to be carved from it. This is a very dynamic piece which strains the boundaries of 2-d painting.
